The firm seeks out “under the radar” international investment opportunities primarily in the natural resources, energy/renewables, TMT and healthcare sectors. Lionsgate is not a fund. Where possible, it invests alongside its larger institutional partners, creating a broader potential deal landscape whilst simultaneously bringing caution and rigour to its approach. In certain circumstances Lionsgate will offer corporate advisory services without an initial investment.

Founder

Rod Nichol is an entrepreneur, private investor, senior adviser, and board member. He founded Lionsgate Capital Limited in Hong Kong in 2010. He also founded Lionsgate West Capital Ltd. (www.lgwcapital.ca) in early 2021 in Vancouver, Canada. Prior to starting Lionsgate, he was a senior investment banker for thirteen years, based in London, with Merrill Lynch, Dresdner Kleinwort, and Europa Partners. He has originated and executed numerous notable transactions globally, having led or been directly involved in roughly USD60bn (equiv.) in transaction value. These deals span both public and private situations, including principal investments, M&A/corporate finance advisory mandates, leveraged & acquisition financings, corporate & project financings, debt & equity capital raisings, and derivatives. Mr. Nichol holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia and an MBA from London Business School.
